Scaling Agile Enterprise Wide – Your Questions for the Panelists

How do you scale Agile for the enterprise? Hear Rebecca Parsons of ThoughtWorks and Bill Curtis of CAST discuss the keys to scaling Agile techniques –the metrics and processes that are required to take the next leap in Agile.
The webinar is on September 28! If you have a question for Rebecca or Bill, you can ask it on the registration page.

Here are some questions we’ve received so far.
Does Agile Scale?

Are agile programming practices suitable for very large software systems, where design of architecture is critical, and may result in lot of rework if architecture is designed incrementally?
How can we get the best out of Agile on the development team when working in a large company with well-established processes?

Agile Practices

The organization is primarily waterfall methodology, but experimenting with Agile.  How do we keep all requirements documentation current for the Agile and waterfall projects where there is very little or no documentation coming back to the requirements team?
What is the greatest obstacle in moving from waterfall to Agile enterprise wide?
By opening requirements to multiple revisions do you risk never completing the project to the customer’s satisfaction?
What do you recommend for an Agile shop that must also report on pre and post sprint activities?  Are these outside of the agile/sprint process?
Please discuss end user involvement and commitment as it relates to agile development.
Is there any study available around possible increases in resource costs for Agile engagements (i.e. staff pyramid may increase in Agile projects, for a number of reasons: Client exposure, merged design and build…)?

Agile Offshoring

Having a large percentage of your team offshore implies challenges to practicing Agile. For instance, the 10 hour time difference (compared to the US East Coast) makes it very difficult for all Scrum team members to attend the daily standup meetings, hence eroding the collaborative nature of Agile.
How are organisations leveraging off-shore resources in conjunction with an Agile approach?

Ask your question on the registration page.
See you on September 28th at Noon Eastern US Time.

Agile Deals Thoughtworks a 21

Eli attended the fun ThoughtWorks “Big Casino” night during the Agile 2010 conference in Orlando this week. ThoughtWorks, cleverly put together this event to generate money for charity and of course build brand awareness.
At the event, Martin Fowler, Chief Scientist at ThoughtWorks, delivered a powerful speech on corporate social responsibility and the changes at ThoughtWorks to reflect this commitment. The event was well attended and enjoyed by conference attendees as significant money ultimately donated to three different charities.
